Transforming HR solutions in Japan and Asia through innovation

About Us History

History

Since being founded in September 2004 as a joint venture with the Softbank Group, we have offered various solutions for "achieving the objectives of determined organizations." During the past 10 years, we have gone through major environmental changes such as popularization of mobile devices and the internet, the Lehman Shock, the Great East Japan Earthquake and the economic policies of Abenomics. Our commitment to supporting customers in the human resource field has been unshakable all this time and will not change in the future.

In the field of recruitment and utilization of human resources, we free customers to spend more of their time interviewing candidates, meeting with staff, motivating employees and making decisions for recruitment, training and personnel utilization strategies. From the very beginning, we have been solidly committed to providing solutions that contribute to companies' growth and help achieve their objectives.

Here, we will take a look back on the history of our business.

One-stop provision of optimum help-wanted ad placement and recruitment support services.

In the beginning, we helped customers place help-wanted ads in the most suitable job information media according to requirements that differ from company to company. We also offered supplemental services to complement ad placement. Specifically, we chose the best media from over 500 job information media throughout Japan in line with job requirements and position types; shared company profile information, job descriptions and eligible candidates with the media; and provided miscellaneous accompanying services such as article writing, photo shooting and art direction on behalf of the client companies.

Furthermore, based on clients' business objectives and strategies, we provide consultation on recruitment strategies. Our recruitment strategies and services cover different styles of recruitment such as large-scale, as-needed, new-graduate and mid-career, and cover industries from manufacturing to trading and IT.

The birth of "Rec-log", the cloud-type recruitment support system

We started designing and developing ASP/SaaS-type products for recruitment support as soon as the company was founded. This was before the term "cloud computing" was coined. Although ASP/SaaS-type products in the B2B field, as represented by Salesforce, were already in existence, cloud-type recruitment services for general companies were still in their infancy worldwide.

During this era, Japan's jobs-to-applicants ratio was on a recovering trend and news of Internet-related businesses abounded. Positive news included Google's IPO, the start-up of domestic SNSs (Social Networking Services) such as mixi and GREE, and Rakuten online mall's achievement of over 10,000 stores. However, concerns over the protection of personal information and copyrights arose due to the spread of file sharing software such as Winny. Amidst such concerns, the government enacted the Act on the Protection of Personal Information on April 1st, 2005. Employers and the human resources industry scrambled to comply with the new regulations.

This social environment gave birth to "Rec-log", which was developed with the following three objectives in mind in the light of future increases in Internet searches; "easy adoption in clients' websites," "tight security" and "streamlined recruitment processes." After the initial release in February 2005, it underwent several major version updates and continues to be refined and improved on a monthly basis. Widely accepted, it has become a leading recruitment support system in Japan.

Expansion of business and introduction of new "Rec-log Mobile"

After the release of "Rec-log" and the Lehman Shock, the employment environment in Japan shifted drastically from a traditional employment style to temporary (part-time) employment. In the 10 years from 1999 to 2008, the share of temporary workers among the entire labor force rose by 10 percent (Labor Force Survey). And since the release of iPhone and Android phones in 2007, mobile devices have become the main platform for many Internet businesses.

Catering to the demand of the new employment environment and the shift in the Internet environment, we developed an ASP/SaaS product called "Rec-log Mobile" for companies recruiting part-time workers. This cloud-type product combines a function to produce websites for mobile devices, a recruitment management system for stores carrying out recruitment via mobile devices - introduced in the industry for the first time, and functions for head offices that manage stores carrying out recruitment. As soon as it was released in 2009, major national restaurant chains and drugstore chains decided to adopt the system. Industries had high expectations for our recruiting support services in this field.

Around the same time, a major convenience store chain started utilizing "Rec-log" to recruit franchise owners. Along with "Rec-log Mobile," Rec-log expanded our business that used to target only traditional-style employment.

Expanding our business partner network

Expanding our realm of business also expanded our opportunities to meet business partners. For example, in cooperation with Parco City, which plays a role in recruiting salespeople for PARCOs throughout Japan, we launched the "ShopsNavi" job information site for the apparel industry in 2010 and continue supporting recruitment for each shop.

Evolving from "Rec-log Mobile" to "Recop"

The demand for temporary workers continues to rise. The part-timer recruitment management system "Rec-log Mobile," which is specifically designed for mobile devices, steadily increased its user base. And in 2012, to further satisfy customer's recruitment needs, we designed and developed an advanced version of "Rec-log Mobile" called "Recop" in cooperation with Recruit Jobs. "Recop" features include support for 3 different types of devices, SEO, optimized website designs that attract more applicants, and management features that streamline recruitment processes and improve the employment rate. "Recop" spread rapidly in the recruitment field.

Advancement of products and expansion of services

Since the release of "Recop", we have listened to various requests from our customers and addressed the recruitment issues behind those requests to improve our product. We always share the acquired information throughout the company to improve our products and have been flexibly providing new "Recop" services that benefit our customers and job seekers. As a result, our products have been adopted by many companies, including major convenience store chains throughout Japan, and help customers improve their recruitment processes. In the fall of 2014, we launched the "Kyujin Koukoku Navi (Job Advertisement Navi) " website, which provides a matching service between hiring companies and job ad companies.

Introducing "Hisol," which comprehensively resolves both employment and recruitment issues.

In 2015, it has become extremely difficult to secure human resources just through recruitment. Now it has become crucial to retain workers and utilize them as they improve productivity. Toward this end, we introduced "Hisol (Hiring Solution)" - a recruitment & employment support system for part-timers. An improved and extended version of "Recop," it was developed in response to various requests from our customers. "Hisol" covers not only the areas handled by "Recop" (recruiting, accepting applications, screening and offering positions), but also areas regarding personnel utilization after employment such as employment procedures, orientations & training, and reemployment of retirees. "Hisol" comprehensively resolves employment issues by providing visualization of all processes of personnel employment & utilization, increased job applicants & hires, and increased productivity by streamlining human resource operations pertaining to new hires.
